CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Classical Ballet

Here at Nepean Dance, we use the internationally recognised Cecchetti Syllabus to teach our ballet programs. Classical ballet encourages muscle development, flexibility, good posture, balance, discipline and strength in a fun and exciting way!

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.

Jazz Dance

Jazz dance is an exploration of style and presentation. Classes emphasize musicality and body alignment, conditioning, stretch and strengthening, rhythm and stylization as well as fun and innovative choreography.

Tap Dance

Our fun and energetic tap classes teach the technique of beats and sequences, as well as rhythmic combinations and routines to deliver a great sense of achievement, style and performance.

Preparatory Pointe/Pointe

Preparatory Pointe provides specific stretching and strengthening exercises tailored to preparing the student for pointe work.

All students who enter the Classical Ballet stream, must complete preparatory pointe classes, and be given an assessment by a trained Physiotherapist.

Once they have passed this assessment, they may purchase pointe shoes and take part in pointe lessons.
